Zelazoski receives 2017 Bellin College Distinguished Alumni Award

Bellin College honored distinguished alumni award winner Donna Zelazoski at its homecoming event on Sept. 14. Donna is a graduate of the nursing class of 1969, and was a dedicated Bellin student and team member her entire nursing career. She recently retired, but remains active in the Bellin community, supporting students and current team members.

Donna’s love of nursing and helping others has also taken her overseas. She has traveled to Haiti on mission trips for many years and spends countless hours preparing supplies.

During the latest years of her employment, Donna served as the manager of the obstetrics department at Bellin Hospital. There, she mentored countless students, new graduates, and fellow nurses and taught them how to provide high-quality care to women and families in the obstetric setting.

Donna has always been a strong proponent of breastfeeding and has helped many new moms get started on the path to a successful and rewarding experience with their newborns. She is also a passionate advocate for birth experience choices and safe deliveries. She continues her advocacy by volunteering in Haiti, teaching the residents all aspects of healthy living and medical treatment.

Lastly, Donna has been an active member of the Bellin College Alumni Council for many years. She served as president and is dedicated to supporting students and graduates. Her influence has touched many throughout the years. Congratulations, Donna!
