About IT Services

The Information Technology Services Department provides technology systems and services that support departments and programs at Bellin College. The IT Services Help Desk is the single point of contact for questions and problems relating to technology. Help Desk staff can answer questions about software, reset your password, and more.

Student Accounts

All students are provided with an email address, network login, and storage space on college servers. Use your network login information and your badge to access computers, printers, and copiers located in the computer resource room and the library.

What is my Bellin login username and email address?

A default username and email account is created for students during the registration process so that you can access various resources during orientation.

  • Username: firstname.lastname
  • Email Address: firstname.lastname@bellincollege.edu
How do I change my password?

You will be prompted to change your password every 90 days.

Use the password self service tool and create security questions that will allow you to retrieve or reset your password in the future without assistance from IT staff.

Are there any password requirements?

Bellin College requires the use of complex passwords to comply with security standards. When you reset your Bellin password it should meet the following requirements:

  1. Must be at least 8 characters in length
  2. Does not contain your account or full name
  3. Must contain at least three of the following four character groups:
  • English uppercase characters (A through Z)
  • English lowercase characters (a through z)
  • Numerals (0 through 9)
  • Non-alphabetic characters (such as !, $, #, %)

How do I sync Email on my mobile phone?

College email may by synchronized to mobile devices with the following info:

  • Type of Mail: Microsoft Exchange
  • Email address: firstname.lastname@bellincollege.edu
  • Server: mail.bellincollege.edu
  • Domain: bcon
  • Password: same as network account

Software & Tools

Canvas

Canvas is a Learning Management System where students can access course materials. Every class at the college has a corresponding course site in Canvas which is used for distributing documents, submitting homework assignments, online collaborations, and taking quizzes & exams. Library resources and course reserve readings are also available in Canvas. A Canvas App is also available on Google Play and the App Store.

MyBC

MyBC is the Student Information System where accounts and personal information reside. Students use MyBC to view schedules, billing, financial aid, final course grades, and unofficial transcripts.

Microsoft Office ProPlus

All submitted coursework must be created using Microsoft Office programs unless otherwise stated by the course faculty member. Microsoft Office ProPlus 2016 is available for free to all students for the duration of their enrollment at Bellin College. Use the link above to download the software. Login with a full Bellin College email address and network password.

Web Print

Students are able to print from their own devices, and retrieve these jobs from Bellin College printers.   Just log in using the above link and select web print from the options on the left to submit a job.

Web Browser

Web browser software is required for accessing tools and resources required by courses at the college. Most computers come with a web browser by default. We recommend that students install a second web browser on their computer and alternate between them if issues arise with their preferred browser.

PDF Reader

PDF (Portable Document Format) Reader software is required for viewing and printing documents in PDF format. Free option: Adobe Acrobat Reader

Wireless
Guest wireless access is available in all areas of the Bellin College Campus.    Connect to the Bellin Guest network on your wireless device.

Printing & Copying
Printing and copying is provided to students in the library and computer resource room at 5 cents per page (8 cents color). Student badges are preloaded with an allotment of free prints based on their academic program. Students can add money to their account through Student Services in the One Stop area.

Minimum Technical Skills & Requirements

Students are responsible for participating fully in scheduled course activities regardless of any technology issues they might experience or lack of basic computer skills necessary to carry out tasks.   The following are technical skills & requirements students need in order to succeed in their coursework at Bellin College:

Hardware & Equipment

  • Access to a reliable computer and Internet connection throughout the course.
  • Recommended Minimum Specifications:
    • Notebook computer
      • 4gb ram
      • 256gb hard drive
      • 2 core processor
  • Device with ability to record audio/video (Smart phone, laptop with webcam, or external microphone & webcam accessories for a desktop computer.

Preparation & Skills

  • A back-up plan in case of technology failure.
  • Ability to perform basic computer skills such as typing, copy & paste, save and locate files.
  • Ability to create and edit files in Microsoft Office format.
  • Ability to use Email communication with attachments. Note: Students and faculty are required to use their official Bellin College account for all email communication – conversations via personal email endanger student privacy rights and are not permitted.
  • Ability to use an Internet Browser to locate specific websites and perform basic searching.
  • Ability to use Canvas to access and navigate course content, upload files, participate in discussion forums, create and respond to Canvas email messages, complete assessments such as quizzes and exams.
