Nursing Camp

Bellin College offers two Summer Nursing Camps for high school sophomores and juniors sponsored by Bellin Health. This is your chance to find out first hand the roles, relationships, and responsibilities that make the nursing profession so rewarding. We offer a 3-night overnight camp and a 3-day commuter nursing camp every summer.

Three-night Overnight Camp – Applications open January 1, 2018

Dates: June 2018
Deadline to Apply: April 30, 2018 or until camp fills.
Cost: $175
Camp includes:  hospital scrubs, camp t-shirt, all meals/snacks, lodging and transportation to day’s activities
Housing: Students attending the overnight camp, will be housed at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (UWGB) campus while attending the summer camp at Bellin College.

Three-day Commuter Camp – Applications open January 1, 2018

Dates: July 16-18, 2018
Deadline to Apply: April 30, 2018 or until camp fills.
Cost: $130
Camp includes:  hospital scrubs, camp t-shirt, lunch/snacks, and transportation to day’s activities

You will have an opportunity to:

  • Shadow nurses at local hospitals
  • Visit a variety of hospital settings
  • Experience and practice a number of nursing skills on the Bellin College campus
  • Tour an Emergency Room and the Eagle III Emergency Helicopter
  • Discover the many opportunities available in the field of nursing
  • Learn about college planning
  • Meet new friends
  • Take home hospital scrubs & much more!

Who can apply? 

High school students interested in the nursing profession entering their junior or senior year.

Selection Criteria

Students are selected upon information submitted on the Summer Camp Application, essay, and transcripts. Minimum of a 3.25 cumulative GPA required for consideration.

Payment

Payment is not required until after the participants have been selected to attend the camp.

Scholarships

Bellin College is offering one (1) scholarship per camp for the summer of 2018. Scholarship applications for nursing camps are due April 30, 2018. The scholarship application must be submitted with the general application form. Please read scholarship application and fill out the application in its entirety to be considered.

 Medical Imaging Day Camp – Applications open January 1, 2018

Bellin College offers a one-day Medical Imaging Summer Camp in July for high school sophomores and juniors sponsored by Bellin Health. This is your chance to find out first hand the roles, relationships, and responsibilities that make the medical imaging profession so rewarding.

Camp Date: July 9, 2018
Deadline to Apply: April 30, 2018 or until camp fills.
Cost per participant: $50
Camp includes: camp t-shirt, dinner and snack, and transportation from Bellin College to and from day’s activities.

  • Experience hands-on activities regarding basic radiology skills on the Bellin College campus
  • Learn and practice basic care-giving skills
  • Visit a variety of radiology departments at Bellin Health such as MRI, CT, and Mammography
  • Discover the many opportunities available in the field of radiology
  • Learn about college planning
  • Meet new friends
  • Take home a t-shirt and much more!

Life’s a Lab Medical Camp

Offered through a partnership between UW-Green Bay’s Office of Outreach and Extension and Bellin College (Green Bay), Life’s a Lab Medical Camp is for those students interested in pursuing a college degree in the health sciences.

Open to high school students entering grades 10-12+ with interests in physical therapy, sports medicine, emergency medical fields, radiology/oncology, mortuary, and research science.

Camp Overview:

Spend your mornings in UW-Green Bay’s state-of-the art science labs for anatomy and physiology classes. During Campers will experience hands-on science including, but not limited to, sheep hearts and brain dissection, patellar/Achilles reflex testing, cat muscle and vascular dissection, iWorx reflex testing lab and muscle contraction/fatigue. These classes will be taught by UW-Green Bay faculty member Amanda Nelson and her team, from the UW-Green Bay Human Biology Department.

In the afternoons, the team from Bellin College have coordinated on-site tours for you to observe and encounter an array of health science professions including the following fields: oncology, radiology, sports medicine, physical therapy, research, EMT, paramedics, trauma flight services and surgery. In addition, the new Bellin College high-tech simulation and radiology labs will provide opportunities for practicing skills learned in the science labs.

If you have a science aptitude and are looking for a future in health sciences this camp is for you! Because of the popularity of these topics, and attention to individual needs, this camp is limited to only 36 students. Register early!
