Hands on Health Care
Bellin College, in partnership with local high schools, has created a free, one day experience in our Health Sciences Resource Center (HSRC) called Hands on Healthcare. Students spend the day rotating through stations practicing skills and techniques guided by Bellin College students, faculty and healthcare professionals. This immersive, hands on experience promotes the advantages and benefits of pursuing a high demand career in healthcare using state-of-the-art technology.
A day on campus begins at 9 a.m. and includes:
- Rotations through seven 30-minute stations exposing students to:
- Physical Therapy
- Virtual anatomy exploration
- Operating Room/sterile technique
- Trauma/Emergency Room simulation
- Nursing care in a simulated environment
- Lunch & Learn in a Bellin College classroom (provided by Bellin College)
- Q & A session with Bellin College students & staff
You can plan your departure for approximately 2 p.m.
Mobile Hands On Healthcare
The future vision of Hands On Healthcare has continued to grow and expand. We mobilized this event to take it on the road to schools in Northeast Wisconsin. This gives us the opportunity to impact more students and customize the experience to fit your needs and schedule. This mobile experience may include:
- Basic nursing care
- Newborn care
- Physical therapy/athletic training
Schools that have participated in the Hands on Healthcare experience:
- Bark River
- De Pere
- Notre Dame
- West De Pere
Exposing students to these types of experiences provides them with the opportunity to learn more about well paying, high demand careers. Employment in the healthcare industry is expected to add 2.3 million new jobs nationally over the next 10 years.
