Awards for Excellence

Faculty and a student awarded for their exemplary commitment to the Bellin College Values. The College grants three awards each year; The Lucyanna Hitch Award for Excellence, is awarded at the spring commencement, and the The Nishioka Family Faculty Excellence Award, and The Terry and Kris Fulwiler Faculty Excellence Award are awarded at the Spring All College Meeting. Graduating Student Award: Lucyanna Hitch Award for Excellence

This is an annual award given in memory of, and tribute to, Lucyanna Hitch, a dedicated College advocate. This award recognizes the graduating student from any undergraduate or graduate program who best exemplifies the College Values of Excellence, Integrity, Community, and Caring. The award recipient is announced at the commencement ceremony in spring and receives a recognition plaque in addition to a modest cash award. Award recipients are commemorated on the cumulative award plaque permanently on display at the College in the Student Activities Conference Room, Eaton Road room 102A. This award has been given each year since 1988.

The Nishioka Family Faculty Excellence Award

Sue Poppel, 2023 Award Recipient

This award honors a nursing faculty member for contributions in the areas of professional nursing advancement, nursing education advancement, professional behavior and growth, and support of the College. All students are encouraged to nominate a nursing faculty member who has been influential in their program of study. This award has been given each year since 1990 and is sponsored through a generous contribution from Dr. Hiro Nishioka, an ardent supporter of the College. The award recipient receives funds for professional development and is commemorated on the cumulative award plaque permanently on display at Bellin College – Eaton Road, Conference Room 212.

Details of the application process for the 2023-2024 calendar year are as follows:

  • Nomination Deadline: 4:00 p.m. on April 1, 2024.
  • Eligibility: Eligible nominees include current Bellin College nursing faculty members. Recipients from the last three years are not eligible:

The Terry and Kris Fulwiler Faculty Excellence Award

This award honors an outstanding member of the faculty beyond the realm of nursing at Bellin College, in areas including professional advancement, discipline education advancement, professional behavior and growth, and support of the College. All students outside of nursing are encouraged to nominate a faculty member who has been influential in their program of study. This award will be given for the first time in 2024 and is sponsored through a generous contribution from Terry and Kris Fulwiler. Terry Fulwiler serves on the boards of both Bellin College and the Bellin Gunderson Health System, as well a number of other organizations in the Green Bay, WI area. The Fulwilers have long been passionate supporters of education in the community, and the Bellin College community is a grateful recipient of that support. The award recipient receives funds for professional development and is commemorated on the cumulative award plaque permanently on display at Bellin College – Resch Location, Conference Room 212.
