Join Bellin College and NXC Imaging for an evening of education and professional development, featuring sessions on leadership, service, imaging and the health and well-being of imaging professionals. Attendees can also earn continuing education credits.

Session 1: Expanding Horizons: Opportunities to Learn, Lead, and Serve
Stacey May, Catherine Murphy & Christina Smith
- Identify the various experiential learning opportunities available, including Medical Imaging programs, mission trips, history trips, Educator Institute programs and Leadership Academy experiences.
- Understand how these opportunities contribute to personal, academic and professional growth.
- Recognize the value of service, cultural immersion and community engagement through mission and educational travel experiences.
- Reflect on how experiential learning can broaden perspectives, strengthen leadership capacity and inspire lifelong learning.
Session II: Ergonomics for the Healthy Sonographer
Mike McElroy
- Raise awareness of the prevalence, causes and prevention of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSDs) among sonographers and healthcare organizations.
- Learn ergonomic best practices that can be integrated into daily workflow to help reduce the risk of strain and injury.
- Discuss the role of equipment design and new technology in supporting better ergonomics for sonographers.
Session II: Introduction to Diagnostic Mammography
Dr. Shelly Reimer
- Review positioning for screening mammography.
- Discuss which images to obtain during a diagnostic mammogram based on the indication.
- Identify common positioning challenges and artifacts in mammography and describe techniques to optimize image quality and diagnostic accuracy.
Session II: Intro to CT: Radiation Dose and Contrast Administration
Dr. Christopher Mager
- Understand the basics of radiation exposure.
- Identify technologist-focused strategies to limit radiation dose to patients and oneself.
- Understand the importance of contrast timing and its practical application.
Session III: Growth and Advances in Preventive Screening and Diagnostic Breast MRI, Including Guided Biopsies and Localizations
Karmen Wall
- Describe the path from screening mammography to ultrasound and breast MRI.
- Identify the difference between screening breast MRI and diagnostic breast MRI.
- Explain breast MRI, including breast anatomy, MRI concepts, MRI safety, patient preparation and setup, and the breast MRI examination.
- Discuss the process for an abnormal breast MRI and the steps of the biopsy procedure.
- Define the Abbreviated Breast MRI Program (ABMR), explain its advances in preventive screening in women’s health, and discuss how Gail’s Law will impact the program for women in Wisconsin.
Session III: Ergonomics for the Healthy Radiographer
Mike McElroy

- Learn ergonomic best practices that can be integrated into the radiographer’s daily workflow to help reduce the risk of strain and injury.

Continuing Education
Attendees will receive 3 ASRT continuing education credits. Some lectures may be eligible for structured education and/or CQR requirements.
Dinner and refreshments will be provided.
