New Student Spotlight: Desiree Dilorio

Congratulations on acceptance to Bellin College. What made you choose this field of study?

I chose this field because my main goal in life is to help as many people as possible and connect with them. My family went through the scariness of cancer, and I just want to make people feel more comfortable and relate to them. 

What attracted you to Bellin College?

Bellin College offers a bachelor’s degree, which was very appealing because I am hoping to get my master’s after this. My credits transferred nicely, and Bellin College offers direct admission with no crazy prerequisites. I love the class sizes because it gives you an opportunity to get to know the staff members and get extra help if needed. 

What are you most excited about coming to Bellin College?

I’m excited to get to know everyone in my program and the staff members! Making new friends is always amazing.

Tell us about yourself.

I’m from Hibbing, Minnesota. It’s a small town in northern Minnesota about 6.5 hours away from Green Bay. I enjoy making new friends and having new experiences, and I am very excited to move to a bigger city. I have one dog — a cavapoo named Nugget. My hobbies include lifting, swimming, reading, being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and hanging out with friends and family.  I also enjoy concerts and traveling.

I have been to 23 concerts. My main goal was to get the amount higher than my age (20). I listen to all kinds of music. I graduated from my local community college with both my Associate of Science – Broad Field degree and my Associate of Arts – Liberal Arts degree. While I work at a boutique right now, I also have lots of experience as a lifeguard and swim instructor. I enjoy going to sporting events, but I am a die-hard Minnesota fan so I will always be a Vikings fan and Wild fan (sorry!). But I’m very excited to move to Green Bay, even though I’m cheering for the wrong team!

What is an item on your bucket list?

Going to a Vikings-Packers football game at Lambeau. I also would like to attend a concert somewhere in Green Bay.
