The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography Certificate program (DCS) is a fast-track adult echocardiography program designed for working sonographers registered in vascular technology (RVT) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).

This two-semester program teaches all didactic courses online with one mandatory weekend in-person clinical intensive requirement in the fall semester. DCS students will only have to come to Bellin College campus for their one weekend intensive.  The clinical requirements of 450 hours are met at the sonographer’s current employment or with placement assistance from Bellin College faculty.

The DCS certificate offers participants the ability to perform adult echocardiograms, which has a projected job growth of 17 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. They will cultivate a unique skillset in great need for remote access hospitals. In addition to projected job growth, those certified in cardiac sonography have the ability to earn up to $2 more per hour, according to the bureau.
