Bellin College Gains Full Accreditation for Doctor of Physical Therapy Program
Since its founding in 1909, Bellin College has experienced remarkable growth, expanding its program offerings to include undergraduate programs in nursing and allied health, as well as graduate programs in nursing and physical therapy. In 2021, the college launched the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, and gained full accreditation this spring, right before the first class of Doctor of Physical Therapy students graduated.
The Doctor of Physical Therapy program is a post-baccalaureate degree program that complements foundational movement sciences to prepare physical therapists for today’s healthcare challenges. This program was started in 2021, with the inaugural class starting in the Fall of 2022. Spanning two years and eight months, the graduates enter the workforce quicker than similar programs. Like all programs at Bellin College, this program contains hands-on learning, intimate class sizes, and clinical experience to prepare the students to excel in their profession.
In April, Bellin College was officially awarded full accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) after successfully completing the candidacy process over the last four years. The accreditation process involves demonstrating a range of program strengths, including qualified faculty, strong clinical partnerships and a well-equipped facility. The granting of full accreditation by CAPTE is an important milestone for the college, as it ensures that all students in the program are eligible to become licensed physical therapists after graduation.
Bellin College and the faculty in the DPT program are proud of this accomplishment in higher education and look forward to continuing to educate the next leaders in physical therapy.
