New Student Spotlight: Megan Dequaine
Megan Dequaine | BSN | New Franken, WI
What made you choose this field of study?
I chose nursing because I wanted to do something that was challenging as well as rewarding. I’ve always had a passion to help others and make a difference in their lives. In the nursing profession you deal with many different aspects of patient care and there are many different nursing specialists to pick from.
What attracted you to Bellin College?
I was attracted to Bellin College when I noticed they truly care about their students. Whether you are struggling with school or personal life the faculty are always right there to help you. Bellin also has an amazing hands-on nursing program, the lifelike mannequins create a space for students to learn about
the real-life healthcare experience. I have always been a hands-on learner so this has definitely grabbed my attention.
What are you most excited about coming to Bellin College?
I am excited to start my BSN journey at Bellin College because I know if I need help with something I can always ask one of my peers, without a doubt. I am also excited to be receiving my BSN degree in 3 years! I know not everyone has the opportunity to start life a little earlier than others so I am very excited about that.
Tell us about yourself
I have always lived in a little town right in New Franken, WI. I come from a family of four, with my mom, dad, and brother. My boyfriend’s name is Josh, and we have been together for about a year and a half. We are always on the move, whether going up north or going to Door Country, our lives are pretty busy. When I was younger I was all about having animals to take care of and play with. I grew up with
cows, rabbits, chickens, goats, dogs, and cats. Now I have two cats named Hazel and Twix and one dog named Sawyer. I am a very busy person and I love being outdoors. I am always up for going to the cabin in Tomahawk. I also love going fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, boating, etc. I am currently working at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay. I have been there for about a year and a half and I love the people I work with, as well as my patients. Everyone is always so nice and definitely takes very good care of the patients. My dream job would be a Midwife, I am very interested in helping mothers as well as their babies through one of their most life-changing moments.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Reading peoples minds.
