Congratulations Class of 2016!
De Pere, WI – Bellin College held its annual spring commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the Byron L. Walter Theatre on the St. Norbert College campus in De Pere, WI. Ninety-one Bellin College graduates received their degrees from the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), and Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences (BSRS) programs. Bellin College president and CEO, Dr. Connie Boerst, presided over the ceremony. The Commencement Address was given by Dr. Greg Maass, president and CEO, Brown County United Way.
The student speakers were Amanda Novitski-Juedes, BSN; Lucy Stedl, BSRS; and Virginia Riggs, MSN. The alumni speaker was LaRae Bruno, BSN, graduate of Bellin School of Nursing’s diploma program with the class of 1980.
Here are a few facts about the Class of 2016:
Of the undergraduate students, 7 are men and 69 are women. The average age is 26; the youngest is 21 and the oldest is 57. Forty-three percent are from Brown County, the furthest home county is Pierce County. Forty-one percent of the students attended courses at UW-Green Bay and 8% attended courses at St. Norbert College through our education partnerships. Spring 2016 has the second ever graduating class of MSN Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) students at 13 graduates. Sixty-one percent are from Brown County, 8 earned their BSN degree from Bellin College, and all are women.
2016 Award Recipients:
The College awarded two awards during commencement. Each year a faculty member is recognized for their outstanding service to the College through the generosity of Dr. Hiro Nishioka and his family. This year’s recipient of the Nishioka Family Faculty Award for Excellence is Heidi Monroe, MSN. The Lucyanna Hitch Award for Excellence is a tribute that recognizes one student from the graduating class who best exemplifies Bellin College’s values of integrity, community, caring, and excellence. This year’s recipient of The Lucyanna Hitch Award for Excellence is Lucy Stedl, BSRS Class of 2016.
