CASTLE – Center for Academic Success, Teaching, and Learning Excellence

CASTLE (the Center for Academic Success, Teaching, and Learning Excellence) provides space, services, and resources to support students’ academic confidence and development.

Our Services

For FREE, the CASTLE offers:

  • Medium volume study space for individuals and groups
  • Silent space for individual study or testing
  • Large dry erase boards for study and review
  • Multiple human anatomy models for hands on learning
  • Grab and Go resource center
  • One-on-one or small group academic coaching appointments with peers, faculty, or staff (includes course specific content and writing as well as success skills like study strategies, time management, etc).
  • Drop in academic coaching
  • Faculty/coach review sessions
  • “Brain Break” corner with relaxing activities and yoga mats
  •  On-line Canvas course with additional resources and videos
  • Workshops and social events
Academic Coaching Requests

CASTLE Academic Coaching

CASTLE provides face-to-face and online appointment-based coaching. All appointments are scheduled via MYWCONLINE, and all coaching appointments take place at CASTLE (Room 200).

Schedule an appointment

If this is your first time requesting a coach, you will need to register in the system. Follow the quick and easy steps listed below:

  1. Select “Register for an account” near the top of the page.
  2. Complete the “New Account” form. Be sure to use your Bellin College email address.
  3. Select “Register” at the bottom of the form
  4. Congratulations! You have successfully registered for MYWCONLINE and may begin scheduling coaching sessions.

Now, to find the coach you want to work with:

  1. Find an available timeslot (in white) on the schedule next to the peer academic coach (PAC) you would like to work with and click the white space (if you need help using the software, stop in the CASTLE at any time for assistance).
  2. Complete all required fields in the short form so your coach knows how to help you best.
  3. Your coach will then be notified that you would like to meet them at this time in CASTLE (Room 200).

CASTLE Purpose, Vision, & Values

Purpose

The Center for Academic Success, Teaching, and Learning Excellence (CASTLE) is a safe space that supports all students and faculty in pursuit of their academic goals and professional endeavors through guidance and collaboration that encourages holistic development and self-directed lifelong learning.

Using evidence-based practices, CASTLE will be the primary driver of academic and professional success for students and faculty at Bellin College.

Hours

Located in Room 200, the CASTLE is open whenever the college is open, and it is staffed with staff and faculty workers Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m.
