RN to BSN Completion Program

Bellin College’s RN to BSN online completion program allows Registered Nurses to advance their nursing career by earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in two years! The capstone community practicum can be done in your community.

Program Delivery

Nursing courses will be offered online each semester as an eight-week session: Session 1, Session 2, and Summer Session (Note: Capstone community practicum course extends entire 15-week semester, and may be done in your community).

RN to BSN Program Highlights
  • Designed to meet the needs of practicing nursing professionals.
  • Project-based with writing emphasis.
  • Incorporates and utilizes projects important to healthcare organization objectives and goals. Community Practicum can be at your place of employment or in your area of residence.
  • General education courses relevant to healthcare are offered by Bellin College (i.e. Foundations of Health Care Management,
    Diversity Issues in Health Care, History of Health Care in the
    United States, Statistics, etc.).
  • Designated RN to BSN Coordinator at Bellin College for advising.
  • Start date: Late August
  • Delivery method: Online (Community Practicum
    can be done in your community.)
  • Timeline: Eight-week sessions each semester: Session 1,

  • BU 320: Foundations of Healthcare Management: 3 credits
  • DI 202: Diversity Issues in Healthcare: 3 credits
  • HS 204: History of Healthcare in the United States: 3 credits
  • HS 308: Nemesis: Disease and the Battle to Defeat It: 3 credits
  • MA 230: Statistics: 3 credits
  • PH 202: Introduction to Medical Ethics: 3 credits
  • WR 114: Introduction to Professional Writing: 1 credit

Admissions Requirements
  • Unencumbered RN License in state of residency and/or practice
  • Personal resume
  • Official transcripts (From all post-secondary educational institutions)
  • Grade-point average: A minimum GPA of 2.5 is preferred

Once accepted you will need the following:

  • Immunizations/health history records
  • Drug screen
  • Criminal background check

Program Credits
  • An RN with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) will receive from 66 to 70 transfer credits (34 lower-level nursing credits and 32 general education credits)
  • Nursing diploma credits will transfer in a similar fashion but will be subject to individualized review
  • Courses taken outside/beyond the ADN may also transfer if applicable to the specific BSN degree requirements.

According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), “The BSN nurse is the only basic nursing graduate preferred to practice in all healthcare settings — critical care, ambulatory care, public health, and mental health — and thus has the greatest employment flexibility of any entry-level RN.”
