Bellin College students, representing three different programs, had the opportunity to travel to four different clinic sites in Haiti for a medical mission trip in October. Students were from the 15-month May 2018 class, RN to BSN and MSN programs. The villages they traveled to were Montalais (which required a 10-mile hike up very steep mountains), Thomazeau, Noyau and Grand Boulage. All four clinics saw over 1,100 clients during the 3-5 days clinic was open. The most common things encountered were severe hypertension, wounds, burns, skin infections and infestations and malnutrition.
I chose Bellin College because I fell in love with the top of the line technology, the small class sizes, the friendly atmosphere, and the unique program. The technology that is available for students to use is amazing. I have never seen so much high-tech equipment in one facility and they let us use it constantly. I love having the smaller class sizes because you really get to know everyone in your classes and there’s a lot more one on one time with the professors. This really helps with learning, especially if you have questions or do not understand a certain topic. Everyone at the college is so friendly. I cannot walk through school without having conversations with a few people. Bellin did a wonderful job creating their ultrasound program.
